Most Maryland decks built between 1985 and 2010 sit on a frame with decades of life left, under boards and railings that are done. Resurfacing replaces what you see and touch, and keeps the good structure you already paid for.

Every resurfacing project starts the same way
An honest look at the frame underneath. We test the posts, check where the deck attaches to your house, and measure the spacing of the support boards (the joists). Composite board makers allow up to 16 inches between joists, and on a new frame we build to 12 for a stiffer deck. If yours are spaced wider than the boards allow, or the structure isn't sound, we tell you before you spend a dollar on boards.
What's always included
- Careful removal of the old boards (and railings, on the full transformation)
- Full inspection of the frame underneath, narrated out loud as we go
- Replacement of any rotted or bowed support boards. An allowance is written into your contract, so there's never a surprise charge
- Waterproof tape on top of the frame, the detail that doubles its life under composite
- Premium TimberTech or Trex boards with hidden fasteners
- Railings checked to safety standards: 36 inches tall, pickets no more than 4 inches apart
- Haul-away of everything old
